Floral + Chambray

January & February are always weird months in LA because our 'winter' is seemingly over and everyone wants to start all of their Spring activities. Especially in this past weekend where we had temperatures over 75 degrees, I couldn't help but start planning out my Spring wardrobe filled with pastel & florals!

I ended up stumbling on this chambray floral shirt at the BP section at Nordstrom (yes, I'm 24 and I still shop in the Juniors section...it's sad) and I loved it!




Thoughts on the shirt? Is it too early to start wearing my Spring wardrobe? Come on...75 degrees people!

Blue Print Cleanse Review

Over the holiday break I ate hundreds of cookies (not even sure if that is an exaggeration) which led to a ridiculous sugar addiction that I just couldn't get rid of. Luckily, my coworker convinced me to try a juice cleanse to see if it would help my body 'start fresh'. She swears by juice cleansing so I decided to give it a shot!

After doing some research, I ordered my first ever set of juices from the Blue Print Cleanse

On Sunday afternoon I drove to Santa Monica to pick up my juices and was so excited to begin the next day. I mean... look how pretty they look on my counter!



There were a total of six juices per day:
Juice 1: Green Juice - pretty decent flavor but slightly sweet which I wasn't expecting
Juice 2: Pineapple Apple Mint - my favorite! Absolutely delicious... must find a way to make this at home.
Juice 3: Green Juice...again.
Juice 4: Spicy Lemonade - less spicy than I anticipated and pretty refreshing
Juice 5: Beet Juice - blah. It was good for a few sips but then got harder to take down. The ginger flavoring did help though.
Juice 6: Cashew Milk - delicious but the chunky texture at the bottom of the bottle threw me off a little bit


Overall, the first day was pretty good - I was excited to try all the juices and was anxcious to drink the all-raved-about Cashew Milk (see description above). Second day was rough, but I was the most surprised that I was actually too full to finish all my juices. Also, I peed a solid ten times throughout the day (TMI, but necessary information). Third day was definitely the toughest for me but in the end was very rewarding knowing that I could make it through three whole days of just juice and tea!

So did it make a difference? Sort of. 

I never felt the huge surge of energy that so many people talk about, and my skin did not look 'glowing', but I did get rid of my sugar addiction! In fact, it was put to the ultimate test on Thursday when I easily walked past the donuts at work! I've NEVER been able to just 'walk by' the donuts at work!

So if you're looking for 'cleansing', energy, or a big 'THIS IS AMAZING' moment then I wouldn't recommend juicing. However, if all you want is a quick reset for your body to kick some nasty habits aside then definitely check out the Blue Print Cleanse!

I'll keep everyone posted on how many weeks I can say 'no' to the dreaded Thursday donut...

2013.


I can't believe 2013 is already here. It's pretty obvious by the absence of blog posts and the week-late 'Good Morning 2013' post, that 2012 was an incredibly busy but rewarding year. 

I switched jobs, got promoted (twice), celebrated my one year in Hermosa Beach, traveled to New York & Florida, ran the LA Marathon, and last but not least started a blog! Even with everything I accomplished in the past year there is so much more that I want out of 2013. Even though I'm not a huge fan of New Year's resolutions (I think it puts too much pressure on unrealistic goals...but that is for a whole other blog post), I do believe in celebrating  & cherishing upcoming adventures! 

This year I hope to...
Travel more (including a trip outside of the USA)
Bake/cook more... I can't tell you how happy it makes me to bake
Spend more time on myself & my health (whether that be in the gym or a much needed lazy Sunday afternoon)
Read more books! I realized last week that I read a total of 4 books last year (3 of those being the Hunger Games). This is not ok.
Expand my wardrobe with a focus on investment pieces. 
And most importantly spend more time on myself (whether that be in the gym, getting a mani/pedi to feel pretty or a much needed lazy Sunday afternoon)

All I Want for Christmas is Glitter

After a massive break of no blogging - I'm back!

This weekend I ran in the Santa Monica-Venice Christmas 5K with my friend Christina and it made me realize that I really need to step up my exercise routine. 3.1 miles should not be that hard....


So in order to get myself motivated again, I've spent sometime today gathering some of my favorite workout essentials. Nothing like new workout gear to get you back to the gym! Also, has anybody been doing the December Daily Mile Challenge?

Time for Leather Weather

It has been incredibly hot & humid lately here in Southern California. Even though I should be happy I can get a few more weeks of beach time, my lack of air conditioning has had me begging for the cooler Fall weather - and everything that comes with it. Pumpkin recipes, apple pie, Chinchilly Essie nail polish, and at the top of my mind lately is leather skirts. I must find a cheaper version of this one...*swoon*.

Wishful Dreaming: Olympics Party

After watching the Fab Five win the gold last night in women's gymnastics (go USA!) I was inspired to host an Olympic viewing party. Sadly, the next couple of weeks are going to be absolute madness (work, birthdays, etc...), so I'm going to have to settle with dreaming up my perfect Olympic party via the blogosphere. How fun would these be?!
